I Need Help With My Internet Connection.

To take our online courses, we strongly recommend a broadband internet connection such as DSL, satellite, cable broadband (or WiMax and 3G which is available from cell-phone service providers).

Your connection speed should be a minimum of 768Kb (1.5Mb recommended because our video content is designed to download and play at the rate a 1.3Mb connection can handle). You can see if high-speed internet is available in your area, and you can test your current internet connection speed.

If you need to upgrade from dial-up, the first place to start your search is in the telephone book's yellow pages. Here, you will find a listing for every internet provider in your area, along with some block ads that even advertise their monthly rates for subscribers.

If you are working on a wireless connection and you find that your internet connectivity is internittent, please move your computer closer to the wireless access point. This will increase your signal strength and also increase the speed and reliability of your connection. You don't want an unreliable connection while trying to write a test. If your connection drops, your test will lock and you won't be able to re-enter until the test is unlocked by your instructor.

If dial-up is the only internet service available to you, you'll still be able to read the course material and take the exams but the video clips won't run without a lot of pausing and waiting for more to download. You might consider viewing the video content on another couputer with high-speed internet. We don't provide course CD's.
