I Need Help With My Computer.

Your computer must meet certain minimum standards to be able to function properly in the on-line education environment. We offer you these minimum requirements so that your learning experience will not be hampered.

If your computer was purchased within the last 3 or 4 years and it's in good working order, it will likely be suitable for your courses. If your present computer is either old or unreliable, it would be better to replace it than to try to deal with its problems while taking on-line courses. Many vendors have entry-level desktop computers that exceed the requirements for less than $400 and laptops for less than $500.

Because of restrictions by Apple so that iPhones and iPads cannot have the Flash plugin for their web browsers and because Safari does not work properly with our online courses we do not recommend these 2 products for your courses.

Minimum

You'll need a Pentium IV processor or G4 Macintosh , with at least 512MB of memory (RAM), a 700MB hard drive, and an 8MB integrated video card.

A screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher is required.

Windows XP (with service pack 2), or Vista (with service pack 1) for a PC or Mac OSX or Ubuntu Linux 9.04.

DISCLAIMER: ***Microsoft no longer supports their older versions of Windows and neither does the software you'll need, so if your computer does not meet the minimum requirements, please do not call or email technical support. ***

Better

Windows 7 or Mac OSX or Ubuntu Linux 9.10.

Additional Requirements:

Computer Service

Your computer must be stable and working properly for your course to work properly. We cannot help you fix your computer, but we have a document of recommendations that may help. Beyond that, you'll need to seek a competent computer repair service.
